This can result from many factors, including but not limited to using the wrong magazine; a damaged magazine or firearm; or a defective magazine or firearm.
Our firearms are generally compatible with any aftermarket part designed to work with the “AKM” platform. However, we recommend that you reach out to the manufacturer of the product in question directly to verify fitment.
Our firearms are manufactured in sunny Pompano Beach, Florida, built with quality U.S. made parts.
We finish all our firearms with a rust inhibiting Parkerizing process followed by a heat set, proprietary, firearms finish – K-Coat™. Our K-Coat finish is baked to provide durability and protection.
AKs by design has functions and multiple areas that produce scratches with normal use. However, your firearm is still protected by the Parkerizing process even if the scratch appears to reach the metal. Here are some of the most common areas that get affected:
• The sweeping action of the safety can scratch an arch in the receiver.
• The gas tube lever on the sight block can scratch an arch in the block.
• The magazine well and magazine release can scratch from inserting magazines and removing them during use of the firearm.
• The lower handguard retainer can scratch the barrel when removed and lower handguard.
Any other finish defects are covered via your warranty. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out. We are happy to help!
The 100 series doesn’t require one, but the 9MM and 12 gauge may need one of less than 100 rounds.
Generally, the hammer spring is not sitting on the trigger correctly. Verify the hammer springs are resting on trigger base. Please check our instruction manuals on how to do so.
The top cover install includes a groove inside the rear sight base.

This depends on the issue, but we aspire to not exceed more than 3 months.
If you already have a KP-9, then you don't need to buy an additional hinge pin to install the triangle brace. The KP-9 already comes with a hinge installed on the gun.
Russian factory Vityaz magazines will work with the KR-9 and KP-9, as well as our proprietary Kalashnikov USA magazines.
Any furnishings that are made to fit “AKM” style firearms will fit our KR-9 / KP-9 series firearms. Please keep in mind that the furniture may require minor fitment.
Buttstock fitment will be determined by the furniture in question being compatible with the (modern) 5.5mm stock hinge pin, and folding mechanism (doesn’t fit 4.5mm in setups).
Handguard modification to the rear portion of the lower handguard will absolutely be required.
The KR-9/KP-9 uses a 1/2x28 RH thread pattern.
User must verify that the device is marked for use with the appropriate round such as 9x19mm (9mm) ammunition. Failure to do so can result in malfunction, damage, harm to shooter or death.
Although our barrels are made for suppressor readiness. If the operator chooses to suppress, it is recommended to confirm concentricity with your setup. Your local gunsmith should be able to assist.
Our 9 millimeter line can use any newly manufactured and commercially available ammunition. We DO NOT recommend +P or +P+ ammunition in our 9x19mm line.

The AK platform utilizes a “Rock and Lock” magazine loading procedure.
1. Inspect your magazines to ensure that they have the proper lugs for engagement. On some surplus magazines, the lugs may be worn or damaged.
2. Lean your magazine back with the front lug in the air. This is the first portion of the magazine that will be inserted into the firearm.
3. After clearing the forward lug surface with the magazine body, while applying forward pressure, rock the magazine body up and toward the rear of the firearm where the magazine release is located.
4. Once the magazine engages the magazine release, you will hear and/or feel a click. Give the magazine a tug to insure it is seated correctly.
Our 9x19mm rifles and pistols may need 100 rounds or less to break in properly.
The KR-103 and the KP-104 should be compatible with most readily available AK magazines for the 7.62x39mm round. Our receiver is built to the original AK-100 series specifications.
• Any furnishings that are made to fit “AKM” style firearms will fit our 100 series firearms. Please keep in mind that the furniture may require minor fitment.
• Buttstock fitment is dependent on the style of the firearm.
• On fixed models, the “AKM” direction applies.
• On side folding models, the fitment will be determined by the furniture in question being compatible with the (modern) 5.5mm stock hinge pin, and folding mechanism (DOESN’T fit 4.5MM in setups).
The Front sight post thread pitch is 24x1.5mm right hand, so any that match it will work.

Standard “AKM” side optics mounts will work on the KR-100 series platform.
If you plan on completing this project yourself, you’ll need an alignment tool, such as the AKFST-GS Front Sight Tool, and a front sight post, like the AK Tritium Front Sight Post. Using a bore laser will also be helpful. Installation instructions for the post can be found on our Media page under the Installation section. A printable zeroing target is available for your convenience on our site. For more information, we provided a guide on zeroing your KR-103 or KR-9.
The 100 series can use any newly manufactured commercially available steel case, brass, or lacquered ammunition. It can’t use aluminum ammunition.

Our 100 series 7.62x39mm rifles and pistols don’t require one.
Most of the currently available Saiga accessories will work with the KS-12, KS-12T, and Komrad including magazines, drums, muzzle devices and chokes.
The Kalashnikov USA KS-12, KS-12T and Komrad all cycle low brass shells.
The KOMRAD™ is classified as a firearm. It just so happens to chamber in 12 gauge shells.
Standard “AKM” side optics mounts will work on the KR-100 series platform.
The 12 gauge line can use any newly manufactured commercially available ammunition rated at 1350 ft per second. It can fire ammunition with a lower velocity rating, but cycling may be an issue.
Another common concern includes thread pitch. The minimum for a 12 gauge is a sliding scale of velocity and weight. The minimum for the 18.5" is 1200 feet per second at 1 1/8 oz #7.5 2.75".
There are a few options you can choose on doing this:
• Decrease weight and increase velocity
• Increase weight and decrease velocity
• Increase both
18.5" 12 gauges (tactical, basic KS12's, and Kommander 12) will cycle standard Walmart bulk pack 12 gauge shotshell, 2 3/4 12 gauge 1200 FPS at 1-1/8oz.
12.5" 12 gauges (Komrad, Khaos) will cycle most commonly available 12 gauge 1350 FPS at 1 oz.
This can result from many factors, including but not limited to using the wrong magazine; a damaged magazine or firearm; or a defective magazine or firearm. Contact Customer Service if you need help diagnosing the issue.

No. It’s important to always maintain the overall length (OAL) of the pole which is why the stock tube is riveted in place.
It isn’t meant to be one. However, if you want to put a sling on it, you will need a 1913 QD mount adapter.
